RATES & FAQs

How to calculate the cost of your voice over

To figure out the cost of your voice over, you need to add together three basic things:

WORD COUNT + USAGE + LENGTH OF USE (+ANY EXTRAS)

Use the chart below to calculate the cost of your voice over. If you have any questions, I am always happy to provide a detailed estimate.

Start here and move across -->

Dollar Bills

Base Rate = $25 per 100 words (that's just $0.25 per word)

  • Minimum 400 words / $100

  • For all voice overs, start with the base rate. This is what I charge for my time to record your script.

  • It's super important to have an accurate word count to get an accurate quote.

  • Most word processing programs will be able to tell you how many words there are in your script. Or, you can copy/paste your script into WordCounter.net.

Business Meeting

Allowed Uses Included with the Base Rate:

  • Non-public facing, internal use only such as for e-learning, corporate training, corporate onboarding and Human Resources uses, etc. This does not include use in trade shows or at corporate events.

  • Length of use = 1 year. (To add additional years, multiply total cost by the number of years.)

FAQs

How fast can you deliver my voice over?

Normally delivery time is 2-3 days, depending on how busy I am with other projects. I deliver your project as soon as I can, though, so often this time is shorter. If you need your project quickly, in under 24 hours, please add Express Delivery and I will ensure you have your voice over in that time frame.

Are there any projects you WON'T do?

I'm okay with some profanity and mature content. However, I reserve the right to refuse projects that I deem derogatory, racist, malicious, demeaning, misleading, false, excessively profane or vulgar, or harmful in any way. Please send me your script if there's any question.

What if I'm not happy with the voice over? What's your revision policy?

  • I will fix mistakes on my part free of charge.

  • Revisions for style, tone, pacing, delivery, or minor changes (<15% of original script) are included so long as they are requested within 30 days of the delivery date. After 30 days, the revision fee is $25 per 100 words, per round of revisions, with a $100 minimum charge.

  • For changes to the script after recording:

    • 1. Changes that are <15% of original script are included free if requested within 30 days. After 30 days, $25 per 100 words per round of revisions, with a minimum charge of $100.

    • 2. Changes that are >15% of original script, revision fee will be $25 per 100 words, per round of revisions, with a minimum charge of $100.

Can you add background music and sound effects to my voice over?

Yes, absolutely! If you purchase this option, I will send you a link to an online library of royalty-free music to choose from. I can provide some help selecting background music, but ultimately the choice is yours.

Where are you located? What time zone are you in?

The time zone is Eastern Time Zone (USA - New York). I am located in Boston, Massachusetts. I am available during normal business hours for this area. I may be unavailable for local or national holidays.

Can you match your voice to an existing video that I already have?

Yes, if you have a video already created and need an audio file that matches it, you can either send me a script with timing instructions (minutes:seconds for each line) or you can send me an mp4 file of the video. There must be enough time in the video for the voice over to fit with the individual scenes. Please contact me for more information about this.

Your rates are not within my budget, but I like the sound of your voice. Are you willing to negotiate?

Generally, no. Sorry. My rates reflect my time, experience, and expertise. They also cover the cost of ongoing professional training and the professional quality equipment I use in my home studio. That being said, there may be some cases where I am willing to negotiate my rates. Please contact me if you think you have a compelling reason. :-)
